Cleaning Alloys

Hi lads, i'm trying to get my silver alloys cleaned, but I cannot get the tar off the rim. There is some old tar spots all over the inner rim but it is nailed on. I have tried tesco cleaner, cillit bang, tar remover, white spirits, but still cannot get the stuff off, without using a more adbrasive scourer pad type thing.

Any tips on getting this shit off?

Cheers

Cheers i'll need to get something like that, but they don't ship to NI due to H&S, boo. I'll speak to my sprayer to see if he has that kind of stuff.

Autoglym is not tough enough for this job, this is military grade tar I think lol

oh right! that sucks! i'm sure you'll get hold of it somehow!

I normally use meguiars wheel brightener on stained wheels and let that soak then scrub it. rinse off then put the tardis on, leave for a few mins, and you'll see the tar running down then wipe off with a cloth!

got some 14 year old clio wheels looking good as new with those products!

We use Comma TFR (traffic film remover), stuff for cleaning trucks!!! £13.00 ish for 5.0L, dob it on with a paintbrush and leave it for a while then GET IT OFF AGAIN (with a hose) as it's pretty agressive stuff and will make your discs rust etc.

Works really well on mucky car parts/spares as well, especially neat in a plant spray followed a few min later with a jetwash!
