When you say it went the first time, what way, did the pressure plate fail or did the clutch plate wear out and loose its grip? There is not any different clutch parts needed for an LSD box, it could be a fitting problem with the release bearing, the fork or the slave cylinder causing the clutch to wear.

no the pressure plate is fine i mean that 2 of the springs came out the the clutch plate and all the rivets that hold it together were very loose too. havent taken the gearbox out yet to see what condition the new clutch is in but has the same symptoms has the previous time the clutch failed. is there anything else it could because as we put a new release bearing in it wen we put the 2nd clutch in also the fork was working fine before the gearbox was fitted and if it was the slave cylinder wouldnt the clutch be dragging?

The fork and release bearing sound like they are ok if the pressure plate is fine, the way the clutch plate failed sounds like its been over worked more than anything else. If its a standard plate on a modded car with an LSD then its not going to be up to the job. Before the diff the clutch only had to hold the load of 1 tyre before it would spin up, now it has to hold the grip of 2, its under a bit more pressure.

I have seen the slave cylinders stick out as well as in, so its as if the clutch pedal is being ridden. It causes friction plates to wear out and wears the pressure plate over time, its usually from dirt in the system and a fluid change sorts it. Your mates failure sounds like he is giving loads of beans through every gear and from a standing start. Its usually from dirt in the system and a fluid change sorts it.
