Confused betwen Coolant Concentration

Saw two varieties of FUCHs coolant at the Auto Mart ! . Both were 1 liter bottles , once said 40% concentration and other said 100% concentration.

The shop keeper said that just buy 2 bottles of either of them and top the rest of the radiator with water .

I got a bit confused and asked if they are the same then why one says 40% and other says 100% on the bottle

Can anyone shed some light on this ? . What bottle should i buy and in what quantity ?

If you get the 40% concentration you need to fill the system with it and dont add any water to it or it will be too weak, I dont think you will need it for the frost protection but more as a corrosion protector. If you fill the system with the 100% concentrate it will have the wrong affect it does not cool correctly if the mix is too strong and you would tend fined it leaks coolant more too. I would go for the 100% and mix it to about 30% for your climate that would be fine.

So i should 2 bottles of the 100% concentration ones and top the rest of with water ? that would be it !

Also where i am located its hot all the time ! . Its summers here and the temp varies from 33-38C .

How big are the bottles? The starlet takes just under 5ltr if you drain the block too. If there 1ltr I would use 2 100% bottles and the rest water. That should be fine.

I buy a 5 liter bottle, pour 2 thirds of it out into another clean bottle, top the third up with water and fill the engine coolant system. Then with whatever is left in the bottle after filling, I add some more of the neat stuff in and dilute the same way. That means I have 5 liters of coolant already diluted to what I need for the engine ready to use after I have filled the system.

5 liters of neat stuff is probably not much dearer than 3 bottles of ready mixed.

I am running 4EFTE in a GTTi Charade . The radiator is a bit more thicker then what comes in the Starlet .

Also , is draining the block necessary as well ?

Thanks mate ! that helped quite a lot . What brand of coolant do you use ?
The part of the world where i am located , we have very limited option available . However copied junk from china or local made stuff is available in plenty and that is ultra cheap too !

I saw a 5 liter anti freeze can , which was uber cheap ! . Although it was new but the can was old and rusted :) i was like how can someone put this in their car , when it cannot protect its own packing .
