Not all planes run jet engines
Most planes run conventional engines which are very similar to cars, they work on the exact same principles. One of my closest friends is a plane mechanic and we apply the same principles to our cars

Yes, the consequences may be a lot worse when
- your vehicle is a few thousand feet in the air
- has roughly 200 times the power of a starlet
- a few hundred degrees of heat
but whether it is a car or an aircraft, it is not good for the engine, causing it to:-
- heat up
- lose power
- possibly backfire
- put extra stress on the turbo
- force exhaust gasses the wrong way through the engine
i'm sure it will have little effect on a typical starlet, but it will be a lot more major on a 1500BHP skyline or similar!
i have to ask this just coz it might shake things up a little on the whole hearing wastegate chatter.
ive got an external wastegate on my k26 and you can hear that chatter. although its not in the same way it doesnt happen when ya take your foot off only when its boosting/half boosting. this is becasue the avcr is trying to alter the amount of boost. it make's a kind of wooh wooh whistling noise (not turbo whistle its a lot lower pitch)
so i pose the question could you call this offically waste gate chatter (even tho its not really a chatter type sound lol)
