hi

I have an oil leak dripping down between the sandwich plate and gearbox, i wounder is it the seal behind the clutch that goes on to the crankshaft,?

this is happening after the rings were redone in my engine last week but that crank seal wasnt replaced, but was replaced 2years ago,

an iv just replaced the seal in the gearbox on the drivers side so it aint that leaking,,

should i go ahead an replace this seal??

is it definitely engine oil?
I would double check it's not something leaking down from the top and running down. The distributor seal is a common one.it also the cam cover seal.
Failing that, probably best to change the crank seal. I changed one once, it continued to leak slightly until I rebuilt the engine with a new seal and it was fine.

Eh there is no oil under the distributor or on top of gearbox, just under the box between sandwich plate and the gearbox, it is un driveable with the amount of drops comin out of it,

so even if i do replace it, it might still leak abit?? thats if it is that seal leaking but i dont see what else it could be,,

so would i get a viton seal on the day i bring in the old seal to a seal specialist rather than ordering it from toyota an waiting for it, as its gettin takin out 2moro,, and put back in the same day as long as i have a new seal??

Just use a uk spec starlet seal, 10th of the price, check the crank for a wear groove that is quite common as this will cause it to leak again even with a new seal

Got seal from Toyota to be sure it don't leak, didn't fancy doing the job again if it leaked and it wasn't a Toyota 1,
Cost 40euro so wasn't to bad, still a lot doe for what it is,,
