hmmm ring pieces they can be a pain in the arse

sometimes i have just left them off( the ring that is not the nut btw), a mate of mine used to make a die by putting a diagonal cut through a nut if you have a spare, have you knackedered the thread or flattened the end that much you cant get the nut to go on the thread at all.

this caused me a headache!!! i bought some spare snap rings! the first time the ring didnt clip in properly and i got stranded when the joint came off the shaft!!!!

i recomend getting a small screw driver and press the ring in slightly while tapping the joint with a soft hammer to clip it in! if you have fooked the cv joint splines whilst hitting it with a hammer you can cut the end off a lil bit to get a new thread! or use a tap and die set :) good luck.

yes the CV joint will fall off very quickly!!! in my experience.

please DO NOT leave the ring off bad idea. get some pliers pull the ring off straighten it up and press it back in the groove.

hacksaw the end off you should be able to get the nut back on then!

If you can't get the nut on, it's fucked mate.

Order a new joint.

You shouldn't need to get it past the circlip, it should clip back on over it.

cut the end off. got the nut on, but no snap ring. got to change the inner boot so will get a new one and fit it then. couldnt get the clips tight enough so used cable ties. are they ok to use? cheers

why would leaving the ring off a bad idea? i got pissed off with mines, ended up breaking it off. whats the purpose of the ring?

put it this way my cv joint fell off the shaft at full lock without one. i may have just been unlucky but i was speaking from my personal experiences!

i am currently trying to change my cv boot, cant locate the snapring.

is it in the back of the cv joint itself? i cant see it and have been hitting
i the joint with a hammer and its not budging, so i guess its still there?
