Detaching gear linkages?

Hi,

I'm trying to detach the gear linkages from the gearbox - I have removed the ends, but towards the engine (right next to the fuel filter), there are 2 weird "clamp things" that I cant get off and don't want to force them incase they snap....

How do they come off?

I will post a pic up tomorrow if it helps.

are you talking about the retaining clips for the cables? yeah they can be a pig. i used a plair of Slip-Joint Adjustable Pliers as they have a long handle. grab the flat piece of the clip and rock it forwards and backwards while pulling upwards, the clips will come out, just are a bit tight.

i used a vice grip to hold the clip, then just pulled it out

Couldnt get them out after trying for another 20 mins.

Fortunately I discovered there is a bolt holding the "carrier" in, so undid that and removed the whole thing as one bit...
