slightly off topic but i filled up my car yesterday and the pump never stopped when it overfilled, load of petrol just shot out of the the tank filler thingy and all over the ground.

what i saw lying on the ground was probably the equvilant to starting my car :(

Did you not complain? The pump cut off obviously wasnt working as it should.

Once had somebody do that and he also never told us inside the station when i noticed the spill had to close forecourt down there was too much fuel everywhere and not enough sand clean up! Had drive me and worker to B&Q get loadsa bags of sand my GT was low!!!!!

im the same, only ever put in small amounts if i can get to a tesco, 99 petty ftw

v power is 99 too now you know.

Theres different additives between the v power and tesco's 99. The driftworks ppl seem to think that tesco's runs that bit leaner some of them use it for that reason.

i said to the girl at the counter that the pump never stopped and it just overfilled. she said she didnt have a clue and i left it at that. she was dressed all in black, no logos or anything, so im assuming she was a manager. knows her shit!:p

could have been my fault cause nozzle was upside down(tank filler on far side from pump) but 50% of the time i do it like that cause i wont wait for a pump thats on the same side as my filler, and its never happened before

Yeh i'm unsure myself if the overfill things works correctly or not when nozzle isnt inserted the 'proper' way. Take it your petrol caps on your drivers side? :p

on the passenger side, but the rx has big awkward doors, so need space to get out, and when i extend most pump hoses fully, its just reaches the filler, but upside down! haha

came out of a shopping centre the other nite and had to ask the girl in the car parked next to me to move as i couldnt get back in my car. of all the spots that were free, she decided to park beside another car

I've noticed it with different pumps round by me in different places, i'll put a tenner in and get around 75miles but sometimes I have had naff all like 40miles...thats from a number of different places too. I've never known you could complain about it but then i've never seen a point, if you can't prove it then you can't really do anything.

And your bloody bastard Tesco pumps...I drove there the other day as it was the nearest one being 24-hour Pay At The Pump. Put my card in and mind you i'm literally empty...spits it back out...not accepted lol

Lucky I got to another petrol station lol

not really to do with the original story but when i use certains pumps at the local tesco it just doesnt fill properly. the cut off thing keeps comin on like it does when the cars full. kinda annoyin so i have to stand there only slightly pullin the trigger and filling it slow as.

a few garages iv been in latley have notices up on the pumps saying they might not switch off when it fills due to the cold weather?

What is your card? When you pay@pump it gives you a limit what you 'can' fill up to (use to be £50 i believe its been up to £90 since ive been on maternity leave) and your card gets verified before you pump so you have to have that limit available in your bank as the pump doesnt know that you may only be putting a tenner in for example. Sometimes thats usually the reason your card gets rejected.

Try twisting the nozzle to a different angle usually splashing back when filling up.

Last time that happened was due to the fact the tankers hadnt washed out the containers properly after having diesel in and then putting unleaded in or the other way around so it got contaminated due to that. Most petrol stations all get the fuel from the same refinary's as there isnt many to chose from so its suprising where most the fuel all comes from same places.

Dont know why i felt the need to reply when tesco dont have annoy me sometimes haha
