for the cost of a profesional map i would strongly recommend getting it mapped properly, at that amount of boost you really want to know what your doing! if you want to experiment i would personally not go any higher than 1 bar until you know what your dealing with.. ive tried it and its no where near as easy as i thought lol

lol, cheers mate for the advice, how confident would you say you are with computers and cars? would you find it easier if you were more competent? just looking advice

no im a very competent person, i can do mechanical things and computers but engine mapping is a completely different kettle of fish, you really need to know your way around the emanage software... i had a little play with mine at a bar and it was so complicated, not only that you have much better knock monitering if u go to a dyno. i sort of understand it now after watching at the mapping session but i still would never try changing anything lol

dan

lol, i would say this will really put him off doing it himself,
what did you find complicated? or is it hard to explain,
could you not get the correct afr's at all?
sorry for all the questions mate, just curious

i could only get correct afr's on idle lol its just awkward really takes a very long time and you need to be able to drive steady at say 3 k revs at 60mph while you adjust the afr's lol and with the emanage u have know way of monitering knock, unless you know what your doing there is a very good chance of making your engine go pop lol where abouts are you from anyway out of interest?

im northern ireland mate, would it be alot easier if afr's were recorded then adjusted at a later stage?
its just i dont think there is anyone over here who specialises in emanage and he would like someone who does to do it.

well i dont know any tuners in ireland but im sure some of the other lads will be able to point you in the right direction on that one!

if your mate wants to have a play then thats up to him but i would recommend starting at a lower boost pressure then seeing how he gets on, i mean he may be able to do it well then in that case he could work his way up in boost pressure, altough for a little bit extra piece of mind i would invest in a knock link then he can monitor knock and afr's for a safer tune!

ok mate thinks for all the advice, i will let him know all of this an see what he thinks, his engine is getting forged atm so we will see what he does. cheers mate

no worries m8 just tell him to take his time and be careful wud't want him to blow up a brand new engine because of a shit tune :)

naw that would be a disaster after the time and money he is putting into it.
he is putting together his engine rhis week so should be out shortly.
il keep you posted on what he does. cheers mate :)
