okay guys and girlies the time is aproaching to hoist out my engine and rebuild it, Me and my dad are doing it over the coming months and id greatly appreciate some help on here

I've been told you need around a grand to do a good rebuild can you guys give some info on it?

My main focuses are to :

Re-Grinnd the crank
re-bore the cylinders
oversize possibly forged piston
new oil ump
new cam belt
replace all the gasket inc. head
oversize the bearings (shells)

I know i could be missing a fair bit so could you guys give me some more things to focus on ?

thanks!!!

standard ct9 but possibly later on move on to a hybrid.
probably just touching a bar of boost with supporting mods

if your going to the trouble of rebuilding it you may as well go forged in my opinion

secondly my advise to you is to use a decent machine shop that will do the machining correctly and to the sizes you want

thirdly; dont re-bore if you can get away with a hone

why spend the money on forged internals when hes going to run a bar of boost?? i dont know over there but a standard pistons is a few euros while a forged one will cost much much more over here! and standard freshly built engine will be more then fine for a bar or more!

check head, may need skimming if headgasket looks iffy. new water pump, valve stem oil seals worth doing. why did your engine die?

mainly because you always want more power! :)

in 12 months time he might be bored of 1 bar and want 1.6 bar, which will then mean another rebuild.

i always over engineer engines for that exact reason

you only need to get a crank regrind if it ''needs'' doing.. same with the bores.. if they are ok, then its just a case of replacing the bearings, and piston rings if you plan on using stock pistons..

although pistons and rods are cheap enough these days, if it were me id do it properly once and then its done..

forged pistons and rods £500.
crank bearings £100.
genuine oil pump £50.
genuine water pump £30.
genuine gasket set £100.

rebore £100 (average) IF NEEDED
crank regrind £80 (average) IF NEEDED

doesnt cost alot to do it right.. ;)

dont need a re grind on the crank unless its damaged,

dont need a rebore, just a hone should do

replace valve stem seals, crank oil seals, oil pump seals, all gaskets, maybe new plugs.

the crank deffinatly needs doing, you can hear it rattling when doing medium revs, either that or one of the ends is on the way, but i just replaced the big end shells so im guessing its the crank, and I know for a standard set up forged pistons seem a bit much but if (like has been mentioned) I decide to go more boost i can support it, thanks for all your help guys !

I put a brand new cam belt, tensioner and idler on it a week before i sold it to you, therefore you can cross cam belt off your list :)

If you have any doubts speak to Darren at TM Developments as he's the dude i got the belt and tensioners from.
