external hard drives

One tip I would suggest when looking at an external one is to get one that had a power switch on the unit.

Otherwise, you have to un-plug it to turn it off and if left on when booting up the PC will sometimes not let it boot unless you have it off.

Not an essential but if little things irritate you like me if may help the rage.

Seagate and Maxtor drives are great value for money and reliable. Lacie are the best but expensive.

I got a Buffalo W1.0TIU2/R1 form work last year, just happened to come home with me one day. Brilliant hd, 1TB usb device. Dl movies on my pc then upload to external hd which plugs into my bt hub then my ps3 picks it up wireless and my movies all stream on it.

haha, sucks when that happens!

usb powered would be something i want for sure.

think im happy with the passport one, by the time i drive to blanch or their place in parkwest, the ebay one works out cheaper(petrol/tolls)

bought the wd passport one last nite from ebay

cheers for the help all!
