external wastegate adjusting

how do i set my sard external waste gate to the minimum boost. at the moment i keep hitting fuel cut (which im trying to adjust on my emanage but ive lost the software) ive tried to set my avcr so it boost's lower but it's still reaching 1bar. any help would be cool

loosen the nut at the top.. then insert a hexagonal allen key into the middle bit & turn anti-clockwise as far as she goes... when u feel it turn to loose, give it 2 turns clockwise to make sure theres some shaft still inside & tighten the nut :)

thanks for the reply mate. i didnt notice the hex bit on the actul shaft. however this hasnt sorted my problem out. for some reason its still boosting to about 1.1 bar. ive sorted out my fuel cut on my emanage so that dosent kick in now. but you can feel it under fueling, which isnt good. once the k26 is kicking in its very hard to keep it under controll you really have to try and touch the throttle a little otherwise it's stright up to 1.1bar.

i suppose one good thing is that it doesnt kick in to about 4250rpm lol. but still.

could it be something to do with my avcr? ive tried setting that so it's at 0.20bar and 20% on the duty cycle but it dosent seam to make the slightest bit of diffrence what ever setting ive got it on

any help would be very very welcome

hmmm... if the sard wg is fully open it should b at around 0.8 .

now the versions of c3s w/g's iv seen have varied from:

0.5~0.8bar
0.6~0.8bar
0.8~1.2bar
0.9~1.4bar...

perhaps u have a harder spring setup? i dont think the avcr has anything to do with it.. are u sure the vaacum lines are setup well? if i was u id disconnect the avcr (temporarily) & connect the vacuum direct from the turbo to the bottom port on the wasteagate.. confim how much boost ur running to see if the problem is from the wastegate or the avcr..

i had a k26 with a blitz wg, i remember lowest setting was 0.4bar & highest was 0.6bar.. then added the mbc & put it up to 1bar.. made one hellova difference tuning wise..

although the k26's optimum efficiency starts @ 1.2bar.. ;)

ill give that a go in a min see what diffrence it makes. i will be running it at around 1.2 but not untill i can get the emanage tuned up. even tho its not running right its fecking quick. and alot more driveable than i thought it would be. turbo lag is fun lol

yeah i remember the lag used to b fun with the k26.. :D never got round to tuning it propperly on mine though :( although i had made 258 bhp on low comp pistons @ 1bar @ 6800rpms :D

no luck matey it looks like it might have a hard spring in it. it just boost's up to 1.1, i have sorted my fueling out a bit (with the basic mapping skills i have lol) so its not running to bad. but it could despratly do with a tune. will the apexi only controll the boost if its over 1.1bar?

yep.. the avcr can only controll above what the spring is set to..

so are u sure u opened it fully??

ok one last check.. u did correct the 1st vacum COM on the avcr to the bottom yeah?

lol yep i did indeed. i did try it round the other way aswell but that didnt make and diffrence either. ive even tryed it so i was useing the NO (for actuator types) port on the avcr but still nothing. ive even tryed it with the screw shaft thing not screwd in.

ive come to the conclusion its either a fucked wastegate, or its and uprated spring. but im going for the latter as it dosnt boost past 1.1 and you can hear the wastegate opening and closeing (kind of sounds like its whistling at ya)

well thats the thing as i dont know. i brought a 2nd hand k26 kit from japan. its a sard 34mm Type C-II. and thats all i know.

The fact that its secondhand may mean its upgraded. You need to open it and check the part number on the little spring. That unit is the same as Blitz so you can look on a Blitz catalog for the rate of that spring.
