failed MOT coz of sticker, WTF!!!

Went for an MOT today and the last thing I would of thought it would of failed on would be because of the front window screen sticker, wtf, he said it was obstructing the view. Quite bullshit imo, ive been driving it for 2 years with that sticker on and was not an issue in previous MOT's.

another thing was, i got these 'E' marked bulbs off ebay and they didnt pass. kinda sucks but was kinda expecting it. just a warning for others that are about to get their MOT done.

If the windscreen wipers (when on) run over the window sticker, then its illegal! How far does it come down the screen?

i had this on my old 106, the sunstripe was to big so the wipers went over it then it fails.

only way to get round it is to take the sticker off. unless you get smaler window wipers.

Well so it should be a fail.

Although I don't like the way they can fail an MOT in such an issue, but other things that I would think were reasonably unsafe are not even part of an MOT test.

e.g. reverse light, battery fittings etc

hmm i got dam mot friday best pass, i hate giveing my car to a bunch of monkeys in an mot station. They take there sledge hammer to the sills and all sorts.

Thread title seems a bit extreme, you failed because you had an illegal modification that impedes visibility, I wouldn't be getting too up in arms over it :p

iv got my MOT next thursday! my passenger seat is fubared!! needs fixing and there was some pass and advises on my last one so me thinks it will cost slightly more then 40 quid!

the only reason they do that is if the car deems to be unsafe within a prescribed mouting point ie seatbelt anchorage point. they can only do this if they think rust that is visible is worse than it looks. they can only tap and jab they cant physically make a hole that wouldnt have been there without them putting excess strength into making it or you can go to vosa about it. it is a visual test not a physical one unless the again the car has rust issues around 6 inches of a strengthening point. Vosa supply the tools used to the mot station alloy jab with a plastic handle which doubles as a tapping hammer

VOSA are the people to talk to if you think your car has been treated unfairly. boy at my garage refused to test a vehicle as it was so disgusting inside it. there was a spit bucket on the passenger seat which just shows the start of it :freddy:

I think stickers etc are at the testers discresion, so if you get a tested thats a dick then this happens

they have to abide though, theyre not a dick if theyre covering there arse. imagine what was to happen if you left the mot station and got stopped 15 mins later and they hasstled you on the sticker and you saying its just had its mot, that person could lose their mot ticket because if a daft sticker. some are more leaniant than others but
