Hello people i just woundered when the the 4efte head is drilled to fit over the 4age head studs, how big should tje holes be drilled, is ther a particar clearance / tolerance needed to allow for expansion and contraction of the head? If any.

Hope u know what i mean

Thanks Dan

im asking this as my machine shop are unsure as they have never had to do this to a head before, i dont think they have ever worked on a 4efte engine and head, lol
so i just said i would do some asking to fine out, if there is a certain tolerance etc to drill the head out, to accept the arp 4age head studs,

or can you just drill the holes say 1 mm bigger than the bolts size??

you dont have to drill them but its a a tight fit as there never dead stright i had mine done .5mm and you will need to make the holes in the gasket bigger plus you need to cut 2 down so they dont hit the cam gears and mill the head out to get a 12mm scoket in there its a lot of fucking about what power you going for

Is there a known fault with using the E series ARP head studs?
I dont know of any, except for people over tightening them that is.
So why bother spend the extra money & time, when its just not necessary.
