fault code 31 & 34 ?

any ideas why my car feels like its holding back when the boost hit 0.7bar and starts to jugger a wee bit , seems to drive fine every where else in the boost gauge range.

Code 34 = over boosting

9/10 starlets will have this code, cos they all have been over booseted once in thier lifetime

Not sure bout Code 31

seems like a possible overboosting problem mate. check the map sensor and wiring though just to be sure

i also notice when i was having a problem and my engine management light came on the standard boost gauge was going up and down all over the place ? dont know if this helps

dodgy map sensor or wiring i would say then, 99%

Can you clean the MAP sensor?
as my mates pulsars map sensor was covered by dirt on the wires, after it got cleaned, chock etc problems sorted!!!

thats a maf sensor your on about mate!

the map sensor is a diaphram valve that senses the pressure and changes the voltage accordingly. if there is a dirt build up or a ripped diaphram it can cause problems.

do you have a fcd, safc or any other device like that fitted mate?

is there any way to test a MAP sensor? i will double check the wiring tomorrow

did have a FCD but removed it becuase i thought it was causing a problem

once i solve this wee can talk about my other problem , lol Dump Valve not sounding all i get is chatter

not really unless you have a proper test meter that can pierce the wire and read the voltage output. you can check the voltage up to the sensor and the continuity of the ground connection by unplugging the sensor and using a standard multimeter.
it seems a bit intermittent though so may have to be done on rollers. may be worth just getting another mape sensor to try if the wiring seems ok

dump valve needs adjusting, piped in wrong or its seized up inside and needs stripping down and cleaning. or its broke!
