Fault codes 12 and 42

Done a Diagnostic check today and got code 12 (rpm signal) and 42 (vehicle speed sensor signal)

im putting code 42 down to my snapped speedo cable, what sort of things can cause code 12?

RPM signal comes from the distributor, its a coil built into the inside of it. If the car is running ok I wouldnt worry to much about it, Jam and Blitz ECUs throw up 12s and 14s randomly.

Cheers John, the car runs fine and i'll be doing away with the distributor in the next couple of weeks so ill just leave it.
