Fitting gearbox with Quaife LSD

Will be having a used gearbox with Quaife LSD already installed, fitted in the next week or two but just checking if there is anything else I need to buy?

Will be needing gearbox oil so was going to use Silkolene SILKTRAN SYN 5 75W-90 Fully Synthetic Gear Oil - is this the correct stuff? I gather 3 litres will suffice?

Also, would it be a good idea to change the driveshaft seals at the same time as having the gearbox fitted? I see Toyota do a gearbox oil seal kit (TRANSAXLE OVERHAUL GASKET KIT, Part No: 04331‑12080) - will this be overkill or shall I just buy the driveshaft seals separately? If so, does anyone have a part number for them?

Is there anything else I have missed?

Thanks!

The gear box oil sounds right, BUT search on here to confirm. Ive made the post somewhere. At work so dont have time to go searching etc.

Buy the full seal kit for the box, its cheap enough and it gives the chance to redo the seals etc while the box is out.

As for diff bearings, if the diff is out replace them, if not leave them.

Cheers chaps.

Just to confirm, the replacement box has already had the diff fitted, with the seals and bearings replaced. I am simply having my old gearbox removed and the replacement one fitted.

I just didn't know whether to get the driveshaft seals replaced while I was getting the boxes swapped over? I thought the seal kit would be overkill because most of the seals will have been replaced when the LSD was fitted.

Rory - I checked with Guy at Opie Oils and he said that is the right gearbox oil so I'll go ahead and order - I had seen a post you put about it but wasn't sure if it would be OK for the Quaife LSD's but Guy said it would be fine. :)

Cool,

Its the same stuff as i run in mine.
Never had an issue yet.

If the seals have been replaced recently, then i cant see a point in doing them.
They should be fine.
You could always buy the dif seals and keep them, then if they did let go, you have them there.
