I honestly don't know what I did in a previous life...

Last night as I was decellerating in 5th gear all I could hear was hwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa, thus indicating a bearing failure in the gearbox

So it's just something to add to the list really, in the two years ownership we've had....

3 clutches,
3 turbos,
5 headgaskets,
4 pistons,
4 rods,
full engine bearing set,
piston ring set,
head rebuild,
and various other things which have gone wrong along the way

I'm fed up!

not slagging the car but obviously not one of the best mechanically if all that has gone wrong, have had a few starlets and never had a problem yet apart from gaskets blowing n shit like that.

if its only in fifth, on deceleration.. i would say the gear is to blame.

Isn't fifth on a seperate gearshaft though?

And is the standard LSD box a C56?

most probably, why would that matter though?

pretty sure you can whip the end case off and have a look at it, probs got some damage to it. very much doubt its a bearing.
