Can you simply replace the standard con rods and pistons for forged one without having to machine anything. Basically a straight swap?

You can yes but its not as simple as that.

Depends on the condition of your bores also and to whether you'd need to setup up a size by 0.5mm or not.

I dont not recommend just fitting 74mm pistons and conrods and away you go. Its much better to start on a fresh bore, so better using 74.5mm pistons and forged conrods.

Also if you purchase Scat Conrods you will need to notch the bottom of your block to allow for clearance for the rods as they are much thicker.

But would defo recommend 74.5mm, fresh rebore!!
