gearbox noise help

Steve on here with the EP95 put Glanza internals into his gearbox, maybe putting EP82 internals into yours would be a cheaper option than buying new parts. I cant confirm they are a perfect match but.

Sounds like the car has suffered from a lack of maintenace underneath, I would change all the oils and give it a good run out and see if it helps any.

There is more noise from the 4WD system than there is from the FWD system, I have noticed it on every 4WD Starlet Trevor brought in (drove them all as I did the looms for them all), right from when they arrived. They whine when they run just as there is more to them, I find the radio helps fix that bit of them.

ah right. well thats not so bad as i can get a GT box reasonably easily.

ive changed the centre coupling for a brand new toyota unit. had both propshafts reconditioned with new UJ's, replaced all the fluids too.
im going to be double checking my gearbox oil is at the correct level in a minute and also will replace the rear diff oil with some 80-90 like ive been told too, hopefully that will reduce the noise from the back at 70mph.

oh, and i dont actually have a radio in it at the moment :(

gearbox oil was at the right level but seemed quite thin and almost watery in consistency.

rear diff oil had bubbles in it. i assume this was due to it not being the correct oil? refilled with 80-90 differential oil. still has a high pitched noise coming from what i think is the back so hasnt actually cured anything.

going to replace the transfer box oil with 80-90 when i have time.

would it be ok to fill the gearbox with some thicker oil to see if it reduces the noise? may help it last a little longer. especially after seeing how thin the oil was thats in there???
