Gearbox problems!!

Hi all,
Need some assistance on my 95GT. When I engage 3rd gear from 4th it grinds slightly. If i put it in carefully its ok it also gets slightly better when warmed up.

Clutch is good so its not that I have a feeling it could be the meshing of the gear or the teeth have had it.

Any suggestions or comments would be gratefully recieved.

Your syncro is on its way out.

Try changing the Gear oil first, its cheaper to do!

also check engine mounts for tears/ rips ect. could be the cause of the problem.

Funny you should say that about the mounts, it has got a slight knocking when pulling away quickly maybe the engine is knocking around, i thought it maybe the CV joint but they all look good. I will have to check that. Seems strange that is only does it in 3rd though.

Why would the engine mounts make the gear not engage properly??

i think the synchro is the one mate... i had the same problem.... left it and eventually and i ruined all the gears .. then its a very costly and time consuming rebuild. so advice is yea do a oil change on the gear box and hope for the best.
