Hi guys,

Do rebuild a C56 box, which parts and seals will I need?

Is anyone able to list EVERY part and seal for a complete rebuild? I am going to drop a LSD in my box, but rebuild it at the same time.

Thanks.

u be best off just saying to the guy who's gonna do it, to get all the bits and peices.

listing all the parts for you with part numbers, isnt just a 5 minute job, it will take ages.

yeah its not a easy job, and theres hundreds of little bits and bobs in a gearbox its not just like 7 objects unfortunately

Hmm, I'm sure someone listed all the parts before.

How much are we talking about for everything?

Toby/Dave any help?

I know Toby does rebuilds...

i paid $550AU including all parts and labour for my rebuild (plus a bit extra for swapping bellhousings and a new LSD clutch plate)

this is a fairly standard price for a rebuild of 1 of these boxes over here.

You ain't gonna replace them all:p
I ain't no expert, but from what I've heard, you best get a gasket kit, and the necessary bearings.
Open the box, and check if the synchros are ok. If not, replace them.

Do you know which bearings?

Hello,

I will have a look for you tomorrow, we can supply a gearbox rebuild kit, but like Red Hot has said your best to get the box opened up and see what you need to replace.

Thanks

OK thanks Toby, let us know a price.

The box does not crunch and it is not hard to put in gear, I just thught I would rebuild while it was open for a LSD.

When putting in a LSD which bearings and seals are needed?

lol i no that lads,

but thats the point i tried to make.

theres so many different parts its hard to know exactly wat you need.

but yeah i think it would be a good idea to do the synchros aslong as there not expensive either!

Off the top of my head, ill be replacing

- Bearings
- Seals
- All Syncros (for peace of mind)
- Any gears needing done (depends on condition)

Ill look into doing it myself, but if i can get a quote cheap enough, ill do it that way.

Do you have part numbers for bearings and seals?

Not yet, but will try on thursday, when the lad at Toyota is back.

@Jezza - The syncros will be replaced, as 2nd and 3rd gear syncros are gubbed. Hence why i will do the whole lot in one go.
Sure as fait, if i replaced the only ones needing done, the rest would follow suit, not long after.

no worries mate

we pay about $60-70AU ea for synchros here. thats on top of the $550 i quoted earlier for all bearings/seals and labour

Then take into account the "possible accident" of chipping the gears when taking them off, remember there pressed on:(

Do new LSD's come with races for the end bearings?

I just want part numbers for all bearings and seals after dropping in a LSD for now. Any luck?

Just dragging up an old thread here.

Dropped my box off for a 'rebuild' and the only thing they have advised is it needs a 2nd gear syncro and a 'bearing' which is on order. The price is only £170+ VAT, which I assume is for seals too.

But, for a basic rebuild there are more than 1 bearing? I think they are simply replacing what is broken rather than doing a basic rebuild which is what I want. How many bearings and seals are there so I can ring them back?

Ive just had my gearbox re-done, £300 in cash, 3rd and 4th gear, 2,3,4 syncros and hubs.

A basic rebuild would really be a full re-build. Bearings seals and syncros, and gears if req'd.

I would go with what they are telling you, thats all i done.
