well i see a lot of starlets now days and its unreal the amount dont have the the cam gears tensioned . it will not cos any harm as far as i can see but make them wild noisy at the top end . i think alot of guys that are carrying out the work have no idea there even tensioned any ways hears how to do it rite.

as u can see in the pix there is a hole in the inlet cam for a service bolt if u look close at a inlet cam gear u will see its spit in to 2 parts one side of this is sprung so it keeps the cams tight when the engine is runing.befor u remove the cam shaft caps fit the service bolt in to the inlet cam if u remove the cams with out puting a bolt in the service bolt hole u will need to turn one side of the cam gear (inlet cam) untill the holes line up so the bolt can be fitted in in place , once the cams are fitted back in place and caps fitted u remove the service bolt thats all there is to it.
