green glowin gt break light not working any ideas?

http://www.miniscience.com/kits/KITSEC/Simple_Electric_Circuit_ON_L.jpg this is a basic light circuit. Battery, switch and light bulb. A bad earth is when you have a current (12v from the battery) go from the postive side of the battery then throw the switch then through the bulb but then there is a bad connection of the wire that then goes to the negative part of the battery ( ie. The wire that would connect to your chassis). Because there is a bad connection going back to the battery the 12v from the battery can't make a circuit back to the battery lettin the light go on. Sorry if this confuses you or you already know that.
So just make sure you have a good connection of your earths and stuff by making sure they are not rusty or make sure they are connection a good clean bit of metal to be able to finish the circuit for the light to work. Cheers
