GT's are known for rear calipers to seize.. mine did it last year. they sometimes loosen off, though it fucked one of mine last year.
it may be the problem..

Could be that it has frozen on. My Mr2 had this. Water gets in to the cables and freezes when cold. A good grease up of the cables could sort it. Could also be the calipers as said before.

i had that problem, rebuilt the caliper in the better weather and it was fine. just park the car in gear from now on. ive just got into the habit of doing it all the time now, never leave it with handbrake on unless im only stopping the car for a small period of time.

Im only going by my Mk1 Mr2 here but basically water gets into the cable and freezes, so you somehow get grease between the cable and the cover the cable is in and it sorts it. Its a common problem on AW11's but mine was fixed at a garage so i didnt do it myself. Other people on the MR2 forum did do it themselves though but I cant help on the procedure. But yes it is the hand brake cable.

Fuck sakes, mine is frozen!

My gear lever goes down, but car wont move! When pulling it up, it seems to move with slack..sound like its just frozen stuck?

Leaving it in gear with the handbrake off parked on a hill is OK yeh, it shouldnt move?

I got someone to move the handbrake off and on while I looked under the car. The cable moved on the right, but not on the left. Would this suggest its just frozen? Now I need....

HELP!

:( Sprayed WD40 on the cables...no luck. Will leave for an hour and try again.

edit:

Yey, fixed. But whats the point in having the car in gear? Mine still roles when turned off and in gear so I cant leave the handbrake off??? :S

Spray the cables with lithium grease, be carefully not to contaminate the discs or pads. Should keep the elements off it for a while.
