headgasket replaced

hi all,

got a major problem. my header was blowing water out, checked head gasket and it had blown. replaced it and built back up and now there is no power. the stock boost gauge still goes up fine but seems like the timing is retarded. everything thing was marked up in regards the timing side of things, can't understand what has happened. before i strip down to check timing is there anything i could of forgotten. no eml present so i'm assuming its not a sensor, ran diagnostics anyway and its system ok. does anyone have details on the pipes that go to the throttle body? 1+2 are vac and 3+4 are water. where should each pipe come from/go to?

sorry for the essay.

cheers

do u mean no power as in it feels laggy when driving? i bet its out 1 tooth on the timming belt.double check the timming marks.

this is what i'm thinking. it feels laggy as hell. like trying to set off and nearly coming to a complete stand still, then its starts to move but no top end kick.

did you put a timing light on it to set the timing after replacing the gasket and disturbing the distributor?

make sure that you have them vacs and water on the inlet right first could do damage,it could well be timing alrite,it happened me that I had the timing done and when I release the tensioner it slipped a tooth just take off the covers to make sure

Double check the timing buddy, if you're struggling we're only up the road :)

cheers nick i will be coming to see you any way to check my fueling. double checked timing and it was a tooth out. corrected it and it is still the same and i'm confident that the timing is correct. could it be a valve problem as i had the valve stem oil seals done when i had the head skimmed. i removed the throttle body and cleaned it and the fuel rail which i had to remove to take the head off. also removed the standard boost solenoid because i'm running a hks actuator. any other ideas would be most helpful.

did u turn the engine over with a ratchet after u set the timming? it jumps a tooth very easy when u release the tensioner

Go and see Nick before you have to take it apart again :).

yes indeed the timing was out by 1 tooth. although it was double checked think there was a bit of confusion with the tipex marks from a previous belt change. she's back. oh yes. thanks to all of the above.
