Heater Problems !?

ive got en ap82 gtt, the problem is the heater inside doesnt really seem to be getting really warm. The temp guage gets to middle quite quick when you leave idling for about 5 mins then the fan cuts in even thought the temp guage is only at halfway. the heater blows warmish but when you put the blower speed on max then it gets even less warmer and when your driving the car the heater isnt very good at all. its just had the headgasket done and i couldnt find any cooling system bleeders so it must be a self-bleeding system. im thinking i should try a thermostat first? just wondered if you guys had any similer problems before or any advise. thanks

It could be air locked or blocked up with crud. Take the pies off the heater matrix feed pipes where they go through the bulkhead and use a hose to rinse water through it one way then the next.
