Help!!! Car won't start.

Tried starting car this morning and it will not start. It just sounds like a machine gun. Won't turn over just several loud clicks like a machine gun.

Can anyone help please? Is it the starter motor?

The lights were ok when I got in this morning but after several attempts to start her the lights are now dim and the alarm is playing up as is the central locking.

Big thanks for your help so far guys. Spot on swift replies.

my alarm plays up some times and kills my battery put jump leads on and it should start str8 up

it sounds as though u need to get your alternator checked if the battery dies that often. prolly the brushes in the alternator needs replacing ... whatever the prolem may be, get the alternator checked.

Same here. The Bitch's battery gave up the ghost in Tesco's car park on Friday. I got my dad to jump her and got her home. Once I got the battery off, it was nearly empty :homer:

Also, because of the way my turbo timer works, the ignition is actually off so I think the engine is run off the battery entirely as the charging circuits are off. I've got a thumping great 800A Optima Red Top dry cell to go in the boot when I can be arsed to wire it up.

new battery will sort. but for time bein, fill it up!! not to the very top tho...
@ monkfish, lovin the alloys mate wat are they??
