Help cars not reving over 2000 rpm

Ive just put my new engine in a my cars not reving over 2000 rpm anyone no what the cause of this could be

Does it sound funny at all? You done a compression test?

it sounds healthy but as soon as i press the throttle it wont go over 2000 rpm can the be anything got to do with my throttle pos sensor

Hmm maybe, throttle position must be something to do with the thrlottle I guess.

How much are they new from Toyota?

but when it gos up to 2k will it stop like you pressed the pedal just a bit? or it stars cutting out and engine light comes one?

yeah timing being miles out would halt your revs mate, get that checked.

so id check, either timing, your map sensor, or your tps...

check your ignition system as well..

bad ground? my car was doing this when the ground on the idle control valve bolt which screws into the intake mani came loose

ive just checked the timing its all bang on had it stobe lighted for ignition timing but its stil doing it just waiting for my mate and i am going to try his tps

it starts cutting out like its going to turn of but as soon as i let go of the pedal it goes back to normal

is there oil getting into the combustion chamber?chek the plugs
