i have bought a p reg starlet turbo with a tdo4 turbo very fast car love it but ive snapped the passanger side drive shaft can i put n e drive shaft on there even tho my starlet is an import would b very greatfull for the help as dont no much about these cars thanx

I believe there are different driveshafts with different number of splines, depending on model (but don't quote me on that). Best to find out how many splines there are then look on internet or see if someone here is selling some.

shaft spline count

like mork says, check the shaft spline-count then go hunting. check both the inner- & outer spline count. lots of variables with these cars and you are best off confirming prior to purchase

Did it snap the actual shaft or the outter CV? Either way you've been very unlucky to break one cause they are very strong.

hi guys thanks for all ur replies i jus put my foot down going up a hill an spun a lil to much an it jus snaped in half i went to scrappys earlier got sumone to put another one on but dont think he did it rite he kept the old bit in the gearbox an jus put the shaft in sorry i dont no much about cars drove it for 25 seconds an it blew the shaft out the box i dont no how much power my car pushing wiv the tdo4 turbo but i thought the drive shafts were ok with dat turbo if n e one near me is selling one would b very greatfull i hav had the car 1 day this is a joke

It's ok to leave the inner CV in the gearbox and just change the shaft. Does the car feel ok and isn't making any odd noises?

Ohh! Sorry I didn't understand your last message.

Did the new shaft actually break or just pop out of the inner CV socket?

mayb the new shaft wasnt rite but it fitted in fine i need to find another one now an to get these parts aint easy

where abouts in wales you from buddy. by the sound of it they have not re attached the bottom ball joint hence the new shaft popping out .im from south wales near bridgend and know of a few for breaking :)

hi m8 im from cardiff so not far m8 i would really apreciate the help my number is 07411876146 im finding it a nightmare to get parts but once i get another one im gona pay a good mechanic to do it i need a passanger side shaft which has got abs cheers for the help

The splined bit of the shaft should have a ring round it to keep it locked in the box, that could be the problem you are having.
