my gt turbo idles around 1000rpm once its got warmed up, but when i first start the car on a morning it not too bad, but once its warmed up then it gets higher! The idle screw is wound right back so its not touching the throttle linkage and there doesnt seem to be any air leaks from the inlet pipes. any ides?

Are you talking about the throttle cable cam stop screw being wound right back? That will only make sure the throttle plate is fully closed.
If you cant find any other faults you could try adjusting the idle control screw that is accessed by removing the rubber bung on the front left side of the throttle body. But I would look around a bit more for an air leak as the idle going up when the car is warm is odd.

when i first got my glanza the thermostat that was in it made my car idle higher, it took the car ages too heat up and if i drove it when it was warmed it the temp would fall again, i just changed over too the 4efe thermostat and it sorted it, must have been what ever jap thermo was in it.

idle control valve i have one if u need it could be this
as weejon stated adjust ur idle screw under the rubber bung the other screw u adjusted was the throttle stop
