Coolant temp sensor. Check it's resistance with a multimeter, I don't know the value ranges but I'm sure someone else has the values.

ok i'll check which one is the sensor to check, there is two i think, one will do the guage wont it? and the other will do auto-choke?

The gauge sensor has only 1 wire, the ecu sensor to check has 2 wires (3 on some Glanzas) but all the other sensors in that area only have 1 wire. The resistance is high when cold and low when warm, I dont know the exact values but I think its about 2000 ohms to about 500 ohms.

It could also be a tps or wax stat fault but you have to start somewhere and I think the sensor is your best bet.

ok thanks John, Also does anyone know what tells the ecu to idle faster when you turn the A/C on, as my starlet doesnt change idle speed when you turn A/C on or off? maybe it thinks that the A/C is on all time and thats whay the idle is so high??

The A/C only increases it by about 200 revs, but it is controller by the 2 solenoids that are piped off the top of the throttle body and bolted to the bulkhead above the fuel filter.
