They are very reliable mate in standard form and mildly modified.just do regular services and try not to get an abused example.it's only one you run a bigger turbo that the engines let go but other factors may add to it aswell.200bhp should be a reliable power on a standard engine providing u hav supportin mods

every car is reliable as long as its well looked after..

People keep blowing there engines up due to poorly fitted parts, not being looked after or jus plain ragging the thing's everywhere...

toyota engines are very reliable, people blow engines as they tend to take out more than their maximum output! If you take care of it with regular service and tune it step after the other with the right mods and ways and keep in mind the limit of the engine, you will end up with many many years of pleasure to take from it!

I have had my GT just over 2year's now and never had a problem with the engine..

Yes i have nailed it but in short burst's and not all the time, the engine is regually checked for the norm e.g. water, oil, an check all leads and hose's are ok with no split's or wear mark's. Reguller oil an filter change to.

Like pig666oen said...Cars just dont blow up, people blow car's up...

thanks for the replys, its just because im moving from a honda vtec and iv always driven it like iv stole it to get any power out of it.

whats power/mods can a standard engine take? if its backed up with FCD etc but still running standard ecu?
thanks

Typical mods are.

Relocated air filter
full exhaust and decat
FMIC
Hks actuator @ 0.8 bar (1bar if you replace the standard manifold or even get it ported) and get an FCD/RRFRP and get the a/f checked and corrected.
You willl see around 160 - 180ish bhp.

Obviously you can get a hybrid ct9 for a little extra power, or get a td04 @ 1bar (a lot of people run this without any issues) I wouldnt really take it past a bar though as I've seen alot of threads where the engine gives up @ 1.1/1.2bar though others have no issues!

thanks, im geussing if you wanted over one bar with a td04 you'd be looking in to getting the engine forged?

are the standard internal good for 180 ish bhp if service reglaury?
thanks

you coming from a sohc vtec or dohc vtec?
standard engine can take up to 210 brake safely if the engine is healthy with
fcd,fpr etc and rolling roaded to cheack fueling safely
1 bar on the ct9 should get ya between 180-190 bhp

Correct buddy, 180bhp should be fine, some are running in the region of 224bhp on standard internals, all depends on the tune though obviously you'd get more out of it with an Emanage! although some say the Glanza has thinnner rods.

Yeah there quiet a few standard replacements available, alot tend to go for Zisco or WepR now check the traders forum...

I drove my Glanza to Le Mans and back and it was full of camping equipment, race gear etc. Didn't miss a beat once. I took out breakdown cover just incase but that was a waste of money! Car's running 190hp too.

Hi guys! new to glanza, new to turbo! Please help! Mine's got standard ct9 and standard manifold but fitted with FMI and FCD. Engine's running perfectly. BUT... boost goes to 1 bar! At full throttle past 1 bar, I have a check engine light coming on and disappears as soon as engine is turned off and on again. So I think it's not a permanent problem. Well, does it mean that I should tune down to 0.8? Or else get an Emanage to solve that lil niggle? (but Im not ready for an Em yet)
