hybrid ct9 vs td04

I think as people have mentioned its more what you want from the car. I just bought a hybrid cause i think it will suit me and my driving style better, but someone is/was selling a td04 kit on here for £360 which is fairly tempting!

how you finding the hybrid

?

Not sure what that has to do about my statement, considering it is not clear what he wants from the car, which I have advised is the best way to decide on what he wants.

Just pointing out that more power doesnt necessarily mean it will be quicker for the thread starters reference.

You won't crack a piston without det. So if it's gonna happen it would happen well within 10k miles. You're much more likely to bend a rod. As for cost difference that depends whever you rebuild it yourself or not as labour is a massive amount of the cost.

As for dissadvantages of a forged engine, i believe there are quite a few hence why you don't get a forged engine standard.
Noise as you mentioned, increased oil consumption, blow by, increased weight of internals, less ring stability, and the bore will ovalise quicker.

Starlet pistons crack for a pastime without det, they are just weak really.

You dont get a forged engine standard because of the cost. they shouldnt use any more oil than a stock engine? if ran in well. also why increased blow by?

Cool.

We are all biased on here anyway.

I see you run a hybrid... :D

If I lived somewhere where the roads were mainly long and straight I would probably have a TD04 but where I live there are lots of mountain roads and twistys which the hybrid is very well suited to, you can also get good bhp/torque from them with a good map and a good turbo.

its also to do with cost also mate and isn't a k24 expensive

@ gee im building a 'street' car shall we say and wanting more instant power for twisties etc which would point me towards the ct9 but im trying to find out if it is worth the etc cash for a td04

Yes they break by random failure.
Right everyone if your 4efte is had done over 10,000 miles you got to start checking for random cracked pistons........

Trust me they don't use forged internals as standard for virtualy ever other reason than cost.
And yes you do get blow by because forging the pistons means they are small when cold allowing the blow by.

Here guys, is a td04 better than a hybrid ct9 for a 400m race, i know it depend on mapping, etc but i mean generelly speaking.
I guess td04 are better for the 400m

i wud go td04 all day tbh, ct9 will spool up instantly but td04 is known to be a good compromise between power and response, can make well over 250bhp at around 1.4 bar and the lag isnt bad at all...a good driver will easily keep it in its power band and keep with a hybrid round the twisties then blitz it on a straight

I'm not impressed with the spool times I've seen with CT9 hybrids to be honest. When comparing the power/torque/spool vs the TD04L, I'd go for the TD04L for the extra power/torque and cost of replacing the turbo.

This obviously depends on the type of hybrid, who built it and the map/tuning involved.

Maybe we can get some hybrid RR graphs posted up to study, as the one's I've seen may of been bad map's etc.

TD04 all the way.

i know a few of my mates have had gt's with hybrid Ct9's on and TD04s and they all say TD04 is the better turbo and would never swap it for a hybrid

Have a nose at this spool time then :), when I get my gas in for next years 1/4 mile Idd be more than happy to take on any TD04's GT down the strip :)
