I find it very difficult to feel sorry for these people

On your point about British/Irish people going abroad and being treated like this.. I again see your point but do you think the headline would have anything in it about "racist attack"? I doubt it would because we are predominantly white and it is impossible to be racist toward a white person apparently.

Nope, I agree completely. If it were a foreign country, and we went over their to scrounge, we'd just be outed, and it wouldn't be 'badged' racist.

At the end of the day, I fully believe that in this country, the second class citizens are the white, educated working variety...

This story about Romanians being forced out of their homes in NIreland is on Irish news sites and UK sites. In all instances it refers to "Pregnant women" and "5 week old babies". I at no point see it giving any reason for the community forcing these people out.

This type of one sided reporting angers me. I have no doubt that if these people were living in a manner that was acceptable to the local community there would be no issue. They come from Romania to beg on the streets and steal from shops whilst generally acting in a socially unacceptable way.

I worked in Dublin city centre for many years and used to have to throw these people out of my shop as they attempted to enter and steal. They would then sit on the ground outside with young babies in their arms in the middle of winter begging. When I phoned the police to have them removed they would spit at the police and shout "RAPE" etc if the police went near them.

My girlfriends parents live on a nice quiet street, then a family of romanians moved in across the road. The women were sent out in their gypsy clothing every day and could be seen begging in the city centre. There were very young kids left crawling around on the street at danger of being hit by cars. Rubbish was dumped everywhere and we could never tell exactly how many people lived in the house but it was a huge amount!

One day a yellow English registered ferrari appeared on their drive.... begging must be a profitable past-time.

When I drive in to Dublin there are romanians with new born babies walking amongst the traffic at the traffic lights begging. At one point we had several families LIVING on a roundabout at a slip road on the countries busiest motorway. They refused to move on until the government gave them money. They would jump out of the bushes at the traffic lights and harass people for money in their cars.

I for one am glad that a community has finally taken a stand against this plague on society. The media may call it racism when you let a group of people know they are not wanted in your community but I call it getting what you deserve.

Italy has been literally plagued with these people much like England has been plagued with Irish pikeys who contribute nothing to society except thieving and generally breaking the law.

I say fair play to this community in N Ireland and to all the do-gooders out there and the media who like to use stories like this to grab headlines... if you think these people are so nice and friendly let them move in to your community and destroy it.

i totally agree with u mate, the uk should stop catering for these piss takin scum that do nothing but make our great country look shit, i to some extent dont mind a few coming over to work and earn an honest wage but using a baby as a gilt trip for money is unexcusable and they should be shipped out

To be honest, i don't wish this on anyone and i think using violence on a family is pretty disgusting.

You didn't mention that they were actual racists, not just your average joe blog.

Four days of racist incidents in the area culminated in an attack by youths, who hurled bottles and made Nazi salutes during an anti-racism rally held by locals in a show of support- information taken from telegraph/bbc news

Did anyone hear steven nolans coverage of this on radio ulster yesterday?
I know the guy is a fat joke, but his single sided coverage, branding anyone who contested his views a racist needs to stop - he's the joke!

To be fair gypsies are gypsies. I know Romanian gypsies are notoriously known for scamming and being nasty violent people. Tbh, I respect every1s point of view, but as I dont live in Ireland I was unaware of how bad the problem was. I'm all for getting them out, would u want ur kids playing where they are lurking? I know I wudnt! And if as Dylan mentioned they jumped out of a bush at the lights and started banging on the window demanding money, It would shake me up and I would react :slap:. I think the Irish have every right to go mad about it! They want to keep their country theirs! Fairplay

had some bloody jipsies round my work the othe week, came and asked if i knew who owned the compound across the way which had a load of metal fences in, said no i didnt but you can get the number on the way out.
on the weekend the gate was pulled off and most the fences taken.

i live very close to a common aswell, regularly walk the dogs on it. but lately there has been a massive increase of dogs being stolen on there by the pikeys.

then only the other day an email was circulated around the business's by us asking us to be vigilant because of horses being stolen and sold at a local fair/show coming locally.

An example of how gypsies have more rights than us...

A small field by my Ma & Pa's was bought by a gypsy family a while ago. One day, my Dad noticed a planning application notice pinned to a tree (which, in a conservation area of a small village stuck out like a sore thumb). Basically, they were trying to get planning permission for 2 dwellings on the land, and we think that the local council were trying to 'sneak' it through as there was only one week to appeal. My Dad swung into action (we all know what gypsy camps can be like...), and gathered enough local protest to make the front page of our local paper and feature on the radio (which, unsuprisingly, they badged as 'racist'). Despite the local opposition, the council granted it as Government instruction was to find more land for travellers, and the key arguement was that the gypsies were homeless and needed somewhere to live.

So... One year on... Do we see any gypsies living on the site? No. So, what happened to 'the gypsies were homeless and needed somewhere to live' I hear you ask? It's all bollocks... We've since found out that the owner of the land has an ultimate goal of building a house on there, and if he had submitted a normal application, it would have been instantly declined.

So... The locals of the area have been effectively discriminated against, as both the Government and local council have given the gypsies something that the ordinary working class community could not get. Can we argue this as discrimination though? can we bollocks... We've less rights in our own bureaucratical nation than homeless people and immigrants. Absolutely disraceful.

the problem is though that just like the BNP extremist groups like to get involved with local issues like this as a way to try to gain support.

I spoke to my friend who is a copper yesterday and she told me so many stories about these people in Dublin... it confirmed what I already knew and had experienced first hand.

My advice if you dont want to be run out of your home by an angry mob - when you come to live in a new country do so in a respectful and productive manner or expect to be not welcome.

The story Mark has written above is a prime example of why I opened this thread. It needs to be highlighted that there are so called "minority groups" out there who, in the face of any opposition, scream racism - this has to stop!

One less for us to have to worry about

http://www.rte.ie/news/2009/0618/joycet.html

A 20-year-old man has died following a shooting off the Malahide Road in Dublin last night.

Thomas Joyce was shot a number of times by a gunman who pulled up in a car on Grove Lane. He died later in hospital.

He was reportedly known to gardaí as being involved in drugs and gun crime.

Gardaí believe a number of gunmen were involved in the shooting.

The getaway car, which is thought to have been a blue Ford Focus, has since been found burned out in the Balgriffifin College area.

A post mortem examination on Thomas Joyce's body is now under way.

Mr Joyce was named in the High Court earlier this year by the head of the Criminal Assets Bureau as a member of a well organised north Dublin drug trafficking gang.

Detective Chief Superintendent John O'Mahony said that Thomas Joyce had never worked and there was no record of an income for him and yet he had amassed considerable wealth from criminal activities.

The CAB took two vehicles worth over €100,000 from him, and officers from Coolock have raided the halting site and the surrounding area where he lived a number of times, and seized guns, ammunition, cocaine and cannabis.

Hear hear, Dylan. Let this scum wipe themselves out.. or at least have a good attempt at doing so.

I also, fundamentally, agree with your assesment of the Roma gypsies treatment in Belfast.

They bring absolutely nothing of any value (in the non-monetary sense) to any land they 'flee' to and I, for one, have had enough of them.

We have enough scroungers and thieves living on this island, of Irish nationality, and we don't need any more.
