As most folk from NI know the speedo must display both mph and kph this causes a problem with indiglo dials as there isn't a dial with both...

Ref."That the speedometer indicates speed in MPH and KPH (If used on or after 1/4/1984)"

To solve this problem I decided to use photoshop and add some Mph to my indiglo speedo.

The progress so far...

Ignore the Mph on the orginal dial the Kph is in the car.

Is there any reason for this not to pass ?
Should I add 120mph ?

No reason why that should not pass Richie, you could even leave the main numbers as kph and have the small number mph and it will still be ok at a MOT up North.

Did you print the nembers on the dials themselves or have you just shopped the image?

The numbers are printed on an overhead accetate sheet hence the bit of reflection on the photograph.
I scanned the original dial against an a4 page to get the sizing correct , then using photoshop layered the Mph and then created the attached image :)

Thats what I did with the Caldina sppedo dial, it looks ok during the day but the accetate lets far to much light through at night.

If I could have printed onto the original dial it would have been much bette,r as its thicker and has a printed pattern on the back to diffuse the light. I was wondering how you had done it just to try myself.

I have an R300 printer that has a tray to print directly onto CDs and DVDs but the dial is just to wide to fit into the tray. I went to an office printer shop but they nearly shit them when I asked them to try something they have never did before and a sign printer was looking silly money.

The only other thing I looked at was a vinyl sticker but the back light passing through it could be a problem.
