Not sure if there are any aftermarket inner joints available, but if it's any help all the below models share the same inner CV joints.

Japan 08/1996-11/2001 TOYOTA CARINA FF AT21*,CT21*,ST215 43-02: FRONT DRIVE SHAFT

The above assumes that your wanting a CV joint for the more common later driveshaft (i.e. not a Mk1 GT) and that your not wanting the inner CV joint for the shorter shaft required with a factory LSD transmission.

Got a knocking noise when i let the clutch out and accelerate. I did check the part number and find its used on many models, unfortunately that doesn't change the price. Don't see the point in a secondhand unit. Might see if I can get it reconditioned. Unless it just needs re-packing with grease.

A worn inner CV joint isn't the sort of thing you come across very often. If your sure it's the inner joint causing the noise? then a good used inner joint should do the job just fine.

What else causes knocking on acceleration? The other day there was what sounded like a grinding noise that lasted a second or two after the knock, then it was gone. Hasn't happened since, but it's not a daily driver to be fair. I need to get it on stands and get the wheel off, have a poke around. How would I know if the inner has gone without removing it, or does it have to come out to check it?
Hope it's not the gearbox...:(

uk spec driveshafts and a glanza cup?

could you have uk spec spider bearings on the end of the driveshaft? These are much smaller than glanza ones and will not fit snugly into the green cup causing a knocking noise on acceleration

unfortunatly, if it is your inner cv joint then toyota is the only place you can get them brand new :( trust me, I have looked!

But as said, they are very robust compared to the outer cv so just double check and make sure it is that

OK, thanks guys, I'll have to have another root around, see if I can see anything obvious. Out of interest, how much play should there be in the driveshaft at the inner joint to gearbox? Any radial play expected, or should they be pretty solid? The other problem it could be, perhaps, is the engine mount?
