Just been looking up some insurance to get a little performance motor again and the prices are relentless on comparethemarket, who do you guys use for insurance now a days because im getting quotes such as 1200 quid for a 1.3 starlet SR, a fiat coupe turbo was 1700 - never had an accident or put in a claim, 4 years NCB and been driving for 10 years now!!!!

I got a quote from Adrian Flux for the Signum (2.2DTI Elite), I've been driving 16 years, no accidents, clean license and they gave me a price of £1700 for TPFT!

I ROFL'd a little and then threw their quote in the bin.

Its amazing the difference in prices for the same car with a different insurer. I was insured with Tesco and they tried to up my premium for the Caldina by £250, their reason? "Its an automatic"

Its always been an automatic, even the 2 years previous to that when they did insure it lol.

glad it's not that expensive to insure in the netherlands.
my GTT is insured all risk (if i drive it into a tree myself i still get my money back) for just 36 euro's a month
my non turbo is a bit lower in insurance.. a whopping 13 euro's a month

I'm with Liberty (Quinn) for €648 TPFT on the Advance.
3 years NCB/Full 3 years/Clean License/23

The Mr2's were a euro or two over €600 TPFT

All paid in installments.

my 1.6 standard grandad rover is more to insure than a modded GT turbo :(

insurance is getting a joke now. on the plus side, my 50cc bike is only £90 for the year to insure :)

I'm surprised the insurer you mention is able to insure you on the Caldina at all? Was it insured with them as a Caldina? Genuine question.

Thanks

Yes, I had tried the majority of insurers on the mainland who specialised in import and modified insurance and they wouldnt cover me. Tesco were the first local company I tried and they asked straight away what model. They didnt have the GTT listed so it was down as an import model only. 3 years I was with them.
