Insuring a CAT C

I had a crash which resulted in a total loss :( I know this will shaft my premium for 5 years, but I have also been spooked by people telling me that I'll have to pay even more through the nose to get a CAT C vehicle insured, how much is this true and does anyone know what sort of difference I am to expect?

dont quote me on this but aslong as you get a test done that car has been fixed and is ok etc. like an mot then the insurance will be exactly the same!

The old MOT is still valid till November, but the car needs a VIC, which is where it goes to a special testing centre and they just check to make sure the chassis and everything matches up and that it's not a cut and shut jobbie. Will set me back about £42 IIRC!
Some people are saying I'm looking in the region of 3k for insurance on a cat c and 2k on an uncrashed car.
