Is my gearbox f#%*ed

So i was driving down the road before and went to give the car a bit of a launch upon chaning up into 3rd gear there was a bit of forcefull noise being it struggled going into 3rd gear. Now all of a sudden 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 5th and reverse and nutral are not working and i can flick up and down between 3rd and 4th without having to clatch it just like at a arcade game lol, altough 3rd gear doesnt exactly do anything.

Just seemes alittle odd? Help?

So does this mean it is stuck in one gear at the moment and you can't get it out or select other gears? Sounds to me like something to do with your selector somewhere. Something may have come off, but hopefully nothing is wrong inside the box, open your bonnet and get somebody to change the gears for you while you check if the selector on the box is working right and go from there, doesn't sound like your box is nakered just yet bud

sounds like it could be a cable problem. get someone to move the gearstick while you watch the selector arms on the box.

disconnect the cables and manually move the selectors to make sure the box is ok.

Doesnt sound like the box more cable issues, though if was one cable you would know as one does 1st/3rd/5th iirc.

Like said try selecting manually and will tell you straight off, also check make sure cable connections are ok and nothings popped of or the broken.

Here comes a dumb question but how do i disconect the cables? And thanks everyone for your imput so far repp will be added.

Im away for the week but will check over car again once im home if cant fix it then off to the shops it is, just hope it doesn't burn to big of a hole in my not so big pocket lol. Will keep use posted.
