I've never removed the engine and gearbox as a complete unit before, only the engine with the gearbox left in situ...

Does it come out of the bottom easiest?

Ie. With everything left on it eg. inlet, alternator, p/s pump?

power steering pump ur better off taking it off with the bracket then it will come out easier from the bottom get blocks and axle stands and jack the car up very high then slide the engine and box out easy

or whip it out the top is as easy

just unplug all the nessercerys mate, leave the power steering and everything on, slides out the bottom no problem, or as weakboy said its just as easy out the top, you going to be using a ramp mate?
