Knock sensor problem.

Done a diagnostic the other day as my engine management light is on and the car is running pritty crappy.the code was 52 so i tried to rewire the knock sensor as it was a bad join so i solderd the wire and disconneted the battery for over a hour and still the light is on and the car is running crap.Could this be the sensor its self? also am i connecting the knock sensor to the correct wire the blue one that comes out of the loom?

try pull out the efi sensor in the fuse box for a couple of mins see if that turns off the engine management light!!in the glanza's the wire is black and it runs over the injectors and down the back of the engine dont know if its the same in the gt's!
my wire was cut aswell joined it back again car ran grand but still kept the engine manage light on

@poke: you meant to say the efi fuse, correct..? or did you mean different..? if so then i'd taken a shot of my fusebox and also made a schematic drawing to print, laminate and stick to my fusebox cover to help when i need to change a fuse or relay since mine didn't come with any diagrams showing what's what.

But if it wernt the knock sensor then surely it would be a diffrent code 52 is short circit knock sensor is it not mate?

@garya: my 2 cents is that if the ecu can't talk to the knock-sensor for whatever reason, it will raise the code 52 flag telling you that it's a possible short-circuit so it would most likely still be knock-sensor related..

I soldered a wire onto the knock sensor before, it failed soon after. Best to use the plug for it as the sensor doesnt like the heat in the area of the pin.

I ended up putting a plug on the wire at the the injectors so I could connect/disconnect it there rather than below at the sensor.

I done that aswell after my first engine removal many years ago, much easier.

@TurboDave & weeJohn: how about if he used wire clamps and insulated the joint..? this would take care of avoiding heat applied to the sensor and also give him a nice tidy & secure joint. think it's worth a shot..?
