Life after the starlet

Well as sum may no i sold the starlet about a month ago to hubbygt of the site who i hear is tearing the streets up.

I sold it to get a house, so with me pretty much settled in to it the time to get a new car was hear a little run around for all i drive it.

here she is:

Now its a renault clio sport 172 cup

Differences in normal ones to the cup is the cup features:

Lightweight windows on front
Cup wheels
Cup suspension
No air con
No abs
No traction control
Fabric as opposed to leather seats

all in the aid of weight saving

Now how it feels in conmparison to starlet well for who doesnt no i used to have a fully forged td05 advance running 1.5bar.

Now straightline speeds of 40+ theirs no comparison a mean what could compare to the starlet in terms of straightline speed however thts not to say the clio is slow pulls not to shabby. Around time it is very torquey down low somthing im not used to in starlet as with clio around town 15 mph foot down your away as opposed to the turbo lag.

however show this a backroad and bye bye starlet this things damm handles and by time starlet on full boost the clio would be gone

so which would i have? pfft give me my starlet anyday back

Can get these for not bad cash nowadays, only thing that puts me off is the reliability We've got Renault in the same complex and some of the horror storys about them scares me lol. Had a shot of a few and do really like how they drive though

Clean looking Clio chris. Yeh they do handle awesome, 3 wheeling round roundabouts before it'll start to lose grip I bet.

totally agree but amean theirs horror stories with most cars, only thing ive had go wrong is the plastic part that hold window onto runner fucked but £4 sorted that

The 172 cups ive been reading and from the missus having a 182 are the quickest out of them all due to the weight of them

Cars sound mate except the mani is cracked again so gonna whip that off and get it braced and stripped of previous welds that arent original then rewelded by my mate whos a welder on nuclear subs.

He modified the aluminium radiator that I put in it, so that the bottom feed would pass the ext w/g and screamer. You would never know it had been done he's that good.

And while I'm at it im gonna put the tdo4 on and then map it :drive:

Alfie is still there mate, he aint going anywhere. Keep saying to him "scream if you wanna go faster" but he never answers lol so i take that as a scream :haha::haha:

haha aww man a laughed so hard there, wee alf has been through sum action in that car though he has once got lil bit car sick with me lol

aahh speak to chris he is the man he still has the td04 map at 244atw 270ish at fly and he said at that it was more fun as wasnt as laggy.
as full boost mid 3k all he will do i send you link to laptop all you need to do is upload it, that was the route i was going to possibly go down.

am quite looking forward to seeing pictures of it

Already spoke to chris@ccm he said he's gonna dig it out for me mate. Gonna use that as the base map for the tuner to set it up on the tdo4 so should cut down dyno time and save a few pennies too. Gotta do the drivers side cv joint this week and the mot and tax are nearly due so every penny counts lol.

Yeh should be a lot more fun with the tdo4. Had the filter set up I made for the tdo5 on the tdo4 today so that fits and apparently I should be able to run the same oil lines according to nick@TD(he's 99% sure anyway.

Lol can't beat a blast on the twistys with a lil French hatchback like that or an old 205gti

Are you going to try get launch control running? see it was running afore but wasnt anyuse as would just come on when ever it wanted to think due to speed sensor.

is the cv joint on drivers side clicking? apart from the cv should sail through a test.

yeah its growing on me this car more a drive it a guess im only driving it from work and back so responsive as hell roon toon as opposed to starlet

Aye totally different way of driving from the gt mate.

Yeh the drivers side one is away and gotta replace the rear fog light but apart from that should sail through mot.

Turbo and mani off this weekend and get it welded and braced if possible.

I'll give you a txt when she's mapped and that mate.

not a clio owner myself but everywhere i read, there are some horror stories about some known faults with the car..
i always say if it's built right and you care for it well enough then you should be fine.. all the same, starbos rock!
