lights wired to ignition

has anyone wired their lights onto the ignition live rather than a permanent live?

i keep leaving my damn lights on!!!!!!

If you want to do what you are saying then I would put a relay inline to the suppy for the lights that is activated by the ignition live. That way it is still powered as per spec but when you turn off the ignition the lights turn off. Or you could get one of those chimes that activates when the ignition is off but the lights are still on in order to remind you to turn them off like the modern cars have. Hope this helps

There is a buzzer that should go off when you take the keys from the ignition and open the door with the lights on. Maybe a turbo timer would over ride it but try it without the engine running and see if it works.

I've also done the same thing quite a few times, my 82 doesn't have no buzzer to remind you either. But it would be best to install a buzzer rather than fuck about with the factory electrics and looms.

oem buzzer

everyone spoke what i had in mind.. :)
the factory default buzzer will sound when lights are left on or if the key is still in the barrel and the door is opened. you may want to look into your dash cluster to see that the buzzer is intact..

The buzzer is under the clocks, if you take the bottom panel off that is at your knees you will see it on the left of the steering column.

weeJohn, you must be talking of the GT buzzer, coz on my glanza, the buzzer is in the dash in the location i pointed out in my previous post. it's a very simple circuit that checks for signal feeds from the driver door trigger and the key-in-barrel trigger..
i can't speak on the GT platform but i would presume they had similar builds..?
