locking wheel nuts

So my girlfriend inherited a car from her uncle when he died a about a year ago and it now needs a couple of new tyres but it has lock nuts on all four wheels we have turned the car upside down looking for the socket for it can't find it anywhere and all of her uncles stuff that hasn't been claimed by a member of the family has been thrown away now so no chance of finding it. Does anyone know any way of getting them off there is a place locally that can drill then out but at £70 a wheel that's not really gonna happen

If you got a free car, then £70 a wheel is a bargain tbh.

Shop around. That price is high. You should be able to find a place that will remove all 4 for less than £50.

Or you can buy tools to do it yourself. Check ebay

My tyre place is high turnover with 7 tyre bays in constant use, they had the tyre nuts off fairly easily for free when I bought new tyres. At the time I noticed they had a tray full of lock nuts and various spanners which they tried out first. Using force didn't slow them much at all and they even gave me a free spanner for the new nuts so IMO a specialist tyre place is worth a try.
