Long motorway run

That sounds similar to my autos best so far 38.9mpg at 100kph to 110kph and some slower bits. My usual city with hills gives 23mpg.

Congratulations on your run these cars love the open road.

I would rephrase and say these cars DON'T like the gear changes! But 39 mpg is very good -)))))

I also been thinking does lowering the car affect the MPG or not??? That's because in theory you will get less wind resistance!

Wiki sights decreasing fuel economy beyond 105 km/h, with wind resistance the dominant factor, slowing from 110 km/h to 89 km/h may save from 1.4% or 20.2%

Chris has very good consumption result at 130-140k if resistance is building from 89kph the Starlet seems to be doing a good job.

Decreasing fuel economy? another words less miles per gallon??? I would think it should give better MPG, especially when the speed is high!

Yes resistance factors can vary as one car in the above test shows - a curvey 1997 Celica - had better fuel economy advantage at 105kph than at 89kph for a small speed window but beyond 105kph economy dropped off quickly.

214 miles covered today! Around 15 miles were in SPORT mode, Around 40 miles were in city driving, includes traffic! The rest was the motorway driving with maximum 77mph and average around 50mph due to road works, also had a few traffic jams so had to go to a complete stop and then 5-10mph for like 30 min - like 5 times during the trip!!!

Overall - ASTONISHING 6.6L per 100KM or 23 L of Shell V-Power for 214 Miles - Not bad for an AUTO!!! I'm sure I can achieve below 6L per 100 KM on the motorway without any traffic!

P.S. Still got my cardboard on, even though it's not very cold outside!
