major problem!

this is happening on my bora which i know isn't an EP but im sure someone can help me out!
I took off and was going up the gears driving fairly hard in 2nd gear and next thing boom!
car revved up but wasn't going anywhere.tried every other gear and none seem to be working also when i hit about 2000rpm i get an awful clunking sound.I looked under the bonnet and the driveshafts are tight no holes in the gearbox or any of that!!
anybody any ideas/things i should check/heard of something like this before?
any help appreciated! :)

possibley the clutch mate?

yeah posted it on a VW forum and thats the feedback im getting!what do you reckon just a clutch spring snapped or something?

yeah i might do!
another thing is when i put it in first gear and try and start it it doesn't lurch forward!also the higher i go in the gears the louder the clunking gets which indicates to me that whatever is making the noise gets faster as i go into a higher gear i.e. flywheel? just a guess to be honest will have to rip it open and see!

definately the clutch mate, sounds like the spring isnt engaged to the pressure plate. doubt it would be the flywheel tbh, what clutch isit? isit a dual mass flywheel like on the tdi's? to be honest im not that clued up on them...

What kind of Bora lad? Petrol/Diesel etc? Some models of the Tdis have too weak of a cluch and they tend to put the centre out also check above your gearbox st the gear linkage. These have bushing in them that can be fine one day and in shite the next

dont have a clue what clutch its just a 1.9 tdi bora 90bhp completly standard
car doesnt move in any gear just in 3rd,4th and 5th when i lift the clutch it clunks loudly,in 1st and 2nd you can just hear something rubbing against eachother but not loud!

Seems rather strange lad, My Bora (1.4) had something similar but it turned out to be the clutch was siezed after lying up over 2 years, so just got a new clutch in it and its sound now. Would be best to get the box out and have a look. could be somthing nice and cheap like a release bearing or fork, or could be a new kit

hope your right!
just paid 1 grand for car 4 grand for insurance today so cant afford much to be wrong with it!! and starting my new apprenticeship monday so need it fixed!

what year?

It sounds like the release bearing, bora's also have the dual mass flywheel in them, and for the sake of your wallet, I hope it aint damaged.

They are a real pain in the arse to work with!

yeah my mechanic said something about the dual mass flywheel are shite in them and he has replaced loads!but then again he said could be something simple like a bearing! will be ripped apart tomorrow morning so il find out!he said them dual mass flywheels are about 500euro!aaagggghhhh!
