meshed turbo

relocating is a safer method i suppose if you feel strongly about it then go for it plus as said above if relocated you could get a better cold air feed!

The turbo is mounted sideways so something big getting sucked in is unlikely plus the mesh protects the turbo, what you really should be worried about is what is getting sucked into the engine. Best to run a filter.

should people be worried tho ???
as theres people who run it like this all the time with no problems ...
this is the big debate about meshing a turbo ...
people who do it say its fine
yet the people who dont cant get the logistic of the car with no filter it must damage the engine by sucking shit in to it < is how they think ...
i personally think it cant do that much damage as look at a hks filter u can practically see through it anyway ... :)
at end of the day i think its down to personal preferance :)

People don't think it matters thats because it take so long to do the damage. How long would it take you to rub a piston ring into dust with 1500 grit paper? a long time but thats what you are doing by running with no filter. The other issue is if you are on a ct9 you can have a big welcoming party for you new enemy boost creep.

Well anyone like myself who might consider running mesh on a ct9 might be in the same position i am in and buying a manifold to accomodate external wastegate tp help with the boost creep so hopefully can cancel the welcoming party :p

tbh its not ideal, ben runs it on his due to lack of room. I have no doubt what so ever that when we get around to taking that turbo off may see alot of wear but that could also be down to the fact it could be as old as the car (17yrs).

g

a lot of people do it and have no problems at all with it,

me personally am not sure about having an extremely course "filter" right next to something that spins at over 50,000rpm, has very fine tolerances and bearings that have a tendances to fail at the best of times. After all would any of you stick a max power branded filter on the end of your turbo?

But like i said a lot of people do it without any problems, i think it will be more long term issues if anything

Agree with both. You could probably run your car without problems for a very long time, but if you want the best for your engine and turbo, just use a filter. A good filter gives almost no restriction so I would always use one.

this has also been the norm over here......no problems whatsoever

lol the theories some ppl come up with is impressive lol..

lets put it this way, in malta almost everybody runs filterless.. i have yet to see a turbo get damaged cause mesh is used...

iv had mesh on my turbos for the past 4years... never had a single problem, & malta is pretty dusty.. still no wear or dmg on the turbo :)
