They handle very very well. the build quality is good of course as its a BMW.
my mate paid around £800 for a remap, 15% smaller pulleys, alter induction kit etc and got 220hp out of her.
And the supercharged whine after he done that was sexy!!

Power is boring, the same all throughout rev range. (flat)
It doesnt handle especially well, feels quite heavy on the corners. Needs some weight reduction IMO.
Im sure it can be tuned up but im not so sure about heavy cars with short wheel base. I would never buy one. Back in the day when i first started driving it i thought it was quite cool then the novelty wore off quickly.

id say buy the new shape as its a 1.6 turbo my mate has 1, i drove it the other week and it dont really have any lag what so ever, pretty boring really the best part is probally the short gear shifter lol much prefer a starlet all day:rockon:

my mate has a cooper S his done a few bits like smaller pulley, stainless manifold, decat etc. its a nice everyday car but i wouldnt say it was that fast really its not bad. One good thing about the car which i found when iv been out in it with him is the females seem to love it, lol much more than the starlet.

build quality i wank, shit to drive and an absolute bitch to work on, to do a clutch means engine out etc, in my opinion they are shit! they use a chrysler engine also and there a hair dressers car thats just my opinion

my missus sister has the supercharged 1 i had it for a week and loved it handles well and theres enough power but the delivery is poor a stated above. my m8 crashed his 225 megane and got the new turbo'd 1 as a curtosy car and we kicked the shit out of it for a week and it wouldnt break and we gave it some shit lol

X2 I work there aswell,clutch and flywheels, pas pipes, brake reaction bushes, seat frames, window regulators, exhaust brackets, track rods, track rod ends the list goes on

6k I would by an ep3 nice civilised car bigger boot than mini. I have a 03 reg astra gsi turbo which I would recomend aswell for a family car/ fun when little ones not in and I have my 1st little one on way and there's plenty off room in boot.
Not to sure I would want my child in a starlet we've all seen what they look like in a crash. Espec a todler etc. But just my opinion.
