Miss-fire, Boost issues.

Im having some problems from last night with the car. On my way home the cars RPM dropped to 600rpm and boost on idle (on the AVCR screen) went to -200 (should normally be -500).

The car is sounding like a Subaru ... i pulled off my lead on No.4 and noticed slight water/condensation. So i dried it up and replaced the plug to be on the safe side. But yet the car is still hesitating on boost and idle cannot be adjusted, even on the throttle body its not responding.

I noticed the heat from my Mani has pierced a slight hole in a boost hose coming from the TD04 to the AVCR solenoid but that cant cause all the issues im experiencing?

Any help will be repped.

deffo sounds like a misfire mate, are there any other symtoms? i.e water loss? oil out of the breather? have you checked the dizzy cap? quite common for leads to fail also

No water loss mate, Oil is fine and Dizzy seems fine also, the connectors are still there and havnt disolved. It could be my leads i suppose ... hard to say if there perfect ... car changed after switching it off and starting it again.

This hasn't caused the turbo to over boost has it?

For how long it takes, it might be worth carrying out a compression test.

Definently not mate, car was running 1.4bar and no more, i always check it upon boosting before i had the issues, since then its not been on that sort of boost.

I am noticing a slight hissing noise coming from what sounds the back of the engine. Its there on idle and when you give the throttle a tap it vanishes and comes back when idle sets back down.

Double check all the vacuum hoses mate. Check they're all attached and none are split.

Bit unlikely, but the intake manifold is properly secured? None of the nuts have come loose or dropped off?

I take it you've sorted this now?

Have a check just now when i pop back out, heading out to replace that hose.

Should say aswell it went through over 1/4 of a tank in 20mins of driving at 30mph.

This is what ive checked so far:

  • Injector plugs were on correctly.
  • Dizzy contacts are a tad white but fine.
  • Rotar Arm has no cracks and cleaned the contact.
  • Inlet is secure.
  • Checked leads for dampness but none.

As i say, the car is drinking fuel badly, and i reckon its maybe a vaccum somewere.

Any other ideas?

after reading this it really makes me thing there is an issue with ur map sensor/knock sensor buddy, are all the connections secure & pluged in propperly?

try & give it a diag test, if there is indeed a problem with one or the other then the code will come up.. also check ur vacum hoses on the map sensor..

I think your on the money Kon, soon as i touched the wiring coming from the MAP sensor the revs dropped even lower.

You say your vacume is reading odd aswell?

Hmm last time i tried a diagnostic test, it just flashed constant.
Sounds like your experiancing the same problems as me...... Idle vacume trouble...

Yep all my AVCR settings are way off, when you slightly build up RPM its just popping and smelling of alot of Fuel.

hmm suggest u trace the map sensor wires & make sure none of them are earthing buddy, or check to see if u have a loose connection, check the vacum like as well buddy, but 99% the problem ur experiancing is coming from that area.

LOL the car murdered over 1/4 of a tank of fuel in 20mins of being idle :slap:

Typical that you solve one and get another :haha:

Im going to go out and try again, car was totally fine until i switch it off and came down to it later that night aswell.

what do you mean by switch off ? as in switching the engine off ?

i think my fault maybe the same as yours
but it wont go that much fuel on idle anyway

Heres a video of it ...

Really doesnt sound right at all, i reckon the engines being flooded with fuel badly. The rattle you hear is my exhaust. No rattles or abnoral noises coming from the engine anyway.

The noises are the exhaust, manifold and my harnesses rattling.
